This is a selection of images from my photobook Lifted, self-published in September 2026. They were also exhibited in my solo exhibition One Gaze, One Touch in September 2026.
Something happens when I stand before a statue. After a while, I recognise a gesture, an expression, or an emotion. I see more than its material. I imagine a person coming back to life. A connection forms; a wordless conversation across time begins.
These photographs trace that process and then extend it. Each image passed through its own sequence of changes: a person was formed into sculpture; from sculpture came a photograph; from the digital photograph, a Polaroid; from the Polaroid, a lifted emulsion shaped onto paper. With each step, a little is lost, yet every time, something is carried through.
The lifted emulsion is not a reproduction of the statue. It is a new object that holds the memory of the original form, just as a statue holds the memory of a person. It is fragile, slightly unstable, and marked by touch. This is an encounter rather than documentation.
They are not about sculpture. They explore how human presence persists through successive transformations.
